Kate was born in Bridgend and was educated at one of the local comprehensive schools before completing a degree in Law at Cardiff University in 2002.

Straight from university, Kate joined Bridgend County Borough Council as an Internal Audit Trainee and began her accountancy studies. In 2004, Kate joined the National Audit Office in Wales and joined Audit Wales on its formation in 2005. Kate achieved ACCA status in 2007 and became a team leader.

Since then, Kate has led and managed a range of audit work at bodies across Wales and across central government, local government, and the NHS. Prior to being appointed as an Audit Director, Kate was one of Audit Wales’s Technical Managers for several years with specific responsibility for financial reporting. In this capacity, Kate represented Audit Wales on groups and boards such as the CIPFA LASAAC Code Board, roles which she continues to fulfil.

Kate is now a member of the Director Team and is the engagement lead on a wide portfolio of audits across Wales.

Outside of work, Kate lives in West Wales with her husband, dogs and horses which take up much of her time. Alongside being a charity trustee, Kate enjoys watching most sports and is a season ticket holder at Swansea City AFC.
