We looked at how Health Education and Improvement Wales’s (HEIW) approach to digital transformation is supporting service improvement. This included its approach to digital strategy, leadership, and skills development. We also considered how the organisation manages risks around digital infrastructure, cyber resilience, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
We found that HEIW has clearly defined digital ambition and strong Board ownership and oversight of its Digital and Data Strategy. HEIW has invested in strengthening its leadership and governance. It is actively using digital tools to improve data quality and workforce intelligence. HEIW understands its digital maturity and core digital risks. However, it has not yet fully developed quantified digital benefits or clear assurance over emerging risks such as AI.
