Cancer Services

  • A patient talking to a doctor
  • What we’re doing

This work is looking at how health boards are managing their cancer services.

    Why we’re doing it

Cancer has been the biggest cause of mortality in Wales since 2016. Demand is expected to grow over the next 10 years, yet many cancer services are already struggling to deliver timely care. No Health Board has met the national target of 75% patients starting treatment within 62 days. While health boards are focussed on meeting targets for timely treatment, evidence also suggests that a significant number, over 35%, could be prevented.

    When we’ll report
