Current work is helping ensure the council is ‘well placed to continue securing improvement’
Vale of Glamorgan Council has received a positive Corporate Assessment report today which has concluded that it ‘has a clear vision of what it wants to achieve and is making positive changes which should ensure it is well placed to continue securing improvement’
The assessment, looks at the position every local authority in Wales is in to deliver its priorities and outcomes for its citizens. This year’s report for the Vale of Glamorgan is overwhelmingly positive and looks closely at its plans for delivering its Corporate Plan priorities for 2016-20.
From these findings our report specifically highlights:
- the clear vision of the council
- effective leadership supporting the change agenda, and
- improving performance management arrangements.
The report does highlight some areas for improvement, specifically focusing on embedding proposed performance management improvements, refining financial savings plans, and asset management as well as ensuring ICT services fully support the change agenda.
Auditor General for Wales, Huw Vaughan Thomas said today:
“I am delighted to present the Vale of Glamorgan Corporate Assessment for 2015-16. It is very positive to see a local authority receive such a good report and see that they have committed to looking at developing key services, such as ICT, to deliver more efficient services.
I encourage the authority to continue this high standard as they deliver their proposed changes to key services.”
