Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board – Annual Audit Report 2022
This is the first of a series of summary reports looking at a picture of public services.
Following publication of the Picture of Public Services report we’re publishing a series of sector-specific summary reports.
This report summarises key information about local government in Wales.
It explores capacity in the sector, performance, and outlines some of the key issues or challenges.
What we found
Local government is a complex sector with specific issues affecting different services. This snapshot report is not intended to be comprehensive. It sets out what we consider to be some of the key issues for local government.
Looking forward, the demand for local services is rising, while budgets across the public sector seem set to remain tight. There are big challenges facing councils as they look to manage these pressures while also recovering from the pandemic and responding to the global challenge of climate change.
