Speak my language: Overcoming language and communication barriers in public services

This report looks at how public bodies, particularly local government and NHS bodies providing front-line services, provide interpretation and translation services for BSL and other languages to enable people facing these communication barriers to access services.

We have concluded that organisations varied in the degree to which they understood the needs of their communities and ensured their services were accessible to people needing interpretation and translation services.
