The County Council installed 15 solar photovoltaic panel arrays throughout its buildings so as to bring renewable energy to the wider public. The arrays were installed in schools and libraries and each installation has a monitor located in the reception area, showing the current output and total output to date.
The panels have proved to be highly effective and benefits derived from these installations include the following:
- A reduction in carbon emissions.
- Electrical savings were registered at each site.
- The schools are able to utilise the information within the curriculum.
This project was financed by the Heads of the Valleys Regeneration Fund and capital costs are expected to be recovered. Costs varied due to the size of the array installed.
