Are you getting by with a little help?

  • Citizen survey asking over 55s in Wales how their councils are doing in helping them retain their independence.

Are you over 55? We’re seeking your views on the services that are most important to you remaining independent.

From providing good quality information, advice and support, to healthy living and access to social activities and leisure services, this survey is asking the people of Wales how their local authorities are managing to provide these important community based services.

Auditor General for Wales, Huw Vaughan Thomas said:
The number of older people in Wales has been steadily rising over the past 25 years and is predicted to increase signifincantly. Given this demographic change it is vital that local authorities continue to prioritise services for older people that provide value, are accessable and importantly help people remain independent in older age. Delivering services in the community that allow people to remain connected are vital for the health and wellbeing of older people and we are keen to get views from all over Wales so we can create a true picture of where things can improve and how we can help make these services better.
The review team have produced a short survey and are encouraging anyone who has used a service, either directly provided by their local council or indirectly paid for through council funds, to take part.
The information gathered will help shape and develop the final report to be published later this year.
